College History

The first government-aided science college of the Bundelkhand region was established in 1959 and celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2009. The college is located at the district headquarters of Jhansi, in the heart of the city. Dedicated to the sacred memory of the late, renowned scholar and thinker, the revered Shri Bipin Bihari Banerjee, the college draws inspiration from his exemplary life as an ideal teacher.

The college is affiliated to Bundelkhand University and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Sections 2(f) and 12(B). In its first accreditation cycle, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) awarded the college a “B+” grade. The college is an active participant in AISHE.

With well-equipped laboratories, a library, and a reading room, and under the guidance of faculty appointed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the college offers undergraduate programs in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Zoology, and Botany. At the postgraduate level, government-recognized programs are offered in Chemistry, Physics, Zoology, and Botany. The college’s examination results have consistently been excellent. Students take pride in receiving their education here. All examinations are conducted in a strictly malpractice-free manner.

Bipin Bihari College, Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) is one of the premier educational institutions of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi . Since its establishment in 1959, the college has held an important place in science education not only in the Bundelkhand region but also across the state and the country. The college was founded by the renowned educationist, Late Shri Bipin Bihari Banerjee Ji. All teachers and staff of this institution continuously encourage students with good guidance, prepare them to succeed in competitive professional environments, and motivate them to move ahead with determination.The college has become a epicentre of scholarship and innovation. Whether in academics, extracurricular, or co-curricular activities, Bipin Bihari College has always proven its worth. Our alumni continue to leave their mark in every field—professional, social, and political.

Bipin Bihari College, located in the heart of Jhansi town, is a prominent institution offering five undergraduate science programs: Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology. The college also provides facilities for postgraduate studies in Botany , Chemistry , Physics and Zoology. The college is also an approved research centre for in the subjects of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology, emphasizing a student-centric and multidisciplinary approach in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Bipin Bihari College Jhansi has also been accredited NAAC (2015-20) B+ category (CGPA 2.53). The College is also an active member of AISHE and also have a functional IQAC. There are five departmental libraries here, in addition to the central library, with more than 60,000 books available for student study.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, we follow a student-centric, multidisciplinary, subject-oriented, and holistic teaching approach. We emphasize research-based culture, which is why our results in university examinations are consistently outstanding. Students also get opportunities to participate in various extension activities such as National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Rover Rangers, Women’s Health Cell, Mission Shakti, Red Ribbon Club, Voter Awareness, Environmental restoration, etc. These initiatives prepare students to contribute positively to societal change.
